Mash Ritchie

Artist member since 2019
Pro
Toronto, Ontario

Mash Ritchie is an abstract artist living and working in Toronto. Her work explores themes of fragility, temporality, and mortality, while emphasizing the importance of presence.

In her current body of work, Ritchie explores the idea of mark-making as a means of asserting existence. Through the form of abstract expressionism she poses the question, “If we no longer exist, what mark would we leave behind?”. Using mediums such as charcoal and acrylic she creates gestural works that blur the line between the practices of drawing and painting. Ritchie captures expressive, layered compositions that evoke both resilience and restlessness.

Ritchie holds a Bachelors of Fine Art degree in Drawing and Painting from OCAD University and is the recipient of the Project 31 award. She has exhibited across the GTA, Quebec and the UK. Her work has been published in Friend of The Artist and collected across Canada.
